The manufacturer BMW wants to secure autonomous driving with the research project “iAATG”.
In the project “iAATG” works BMW together with the TH Deggendorf and the company b-plus. It is about securing the Autonomous driving in his function.
The project is funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs with 800,000 euros and in Dingolfing where BMW operates a modern manufacturing facility. A total of two million euros will be invested in the research project.
BMW bundles its autonomous driving projects in Unterschleissheimbut the production of the semi-autonomous iNEXT planned for 2021 is scheduled to start in Dingolfing. So both locations are involved in the project.
The quality assurance project should ensure that the automated driving functions are technically secured and can not fail. So you take the individual components and functions before. The development takes place in Unterschleissheim and the systematic start-up protection on the whole vehicle level takes place in Dingolfing.
The approach is threefold: Once it is about the interrelation between the BMW iNEXT vehicles and their equipment with the sensors. It uses the Artificial intelligenceto detect possible errors.
The second and third part of the project implies the development of test methods. In this way, one plans a test box with which one can simulate certain scenarios and determine the reaction of the vehicle. It’s also about ensuring that data from the cloud is processed correctly.
