Robotic Research receives operating license in Maryland

Robotic Research has obtained permission to operate an autonomous vehicle for Montgomery County, Maryland.

The enterprise Robotic Research is a provider of autonomous and robotic technologies to commercial and federal customers and works with both the bus manufacturer New Flyer as well as with the manufacturer of autonomous e-shuttles Local Motors together. In both cases, it is about autonomous driving.

Olli Local Motors

Now, the company has received a license to operate an autonomous e-shuttle from Local Motors. The vehicle that Olli is equipped with the AutoDrive system from Robotic Research. With the approval, they are allowed to operate at the company’s two sites in Clarksburg, Maryland.

The permit was issued by the County of Montgomery County, the police and other authorities after a thorough review. In this way, the vehicles are allowed to drive on a 800 meter long street in public transport. Local Motors also operates one of its public transport shuttles in Maryland. For safety, on board the shuttle, a person must take control in an emergency.
