Lidar: Geely gets the sensor from Quanergy

The lidar producer Quanergy will supply the Chinese manufacturer Geely with the sensor.

The market for lidar sensors is currently in transition. The startup Aeva has reached new benchmarks in sensor development and the market leader Velodyne has his position on the Chinese market lost. Now it became known that the Chinese manufacturer Geely his lidar sensors from Quanergy will refer.

The cooperation between the two companies implies the joint development and marketing of lidar solutions. It is not just about autonomous driving, but also about the use in the Smart City, Quanergy recently introduced a solution for this area, which is used in Hangzhou Bay Area, Ningbo City and Zhejiang Province. Such vehicles can intersections Data about these over 5G (C-V2X) received.

The so-called “Roadside Sensing System” implies Quanergy’s M8 lidar sensors, which are powered by DTC’s QORTEX software. Such can both vehicles and the foot traffic be recognized and tracked. This should increase traffic safety, which Geely also wants to profit from.

The two companies are convinced that this development will be the introduction of the Autonomous driving accelerate in China. At the forthcoming CES in Las Vegas, a model Geely vehicle will be outfitted with Quanergy’s S3 lidar sensors.
