Aurora focuses on simulation tests

The US company Aurora has decided to allow the tests to be carried out more in the simulator.

The startup launched this year Aurora fewer test kilometers back than in the previous year. That will also change in DMV report voice that will come out in the coming month.

Aurora announced that it would hardly be half the route. In many companies, the number of kilometers traveled is assessed as progress in the evaluation of autonomous vehicle technology. But Aurora sees the reduction in test kilometers as progress.

Because instead of going on trips in the real world, the start-up starts simulation tests, Where journeys in public transport fell by half, simulation journeys increased by a factor of 100. You do not use gaming platforms, even if they are more visually appealing. But you don’t always get the best results.

Aurora uses the simulation tool called Offline Executor for this. They also use an HD card system called Atlas, the data of which is made available to the entire fleet.

Nevertheless, you want to renew your own fleet and rely on vehicles from Fiat-Chrysler, Like the industry leader Waymo they rely on Chrysler Pacifica minivans.

The Companies cooperates with Hyundai and Kia, which in turn is a joint venture founded with Aptiv. Of the Volkswagen Group ended the cooperation in favor of the cooperation with ford and its startup Argo AI,
