Stuttgart PorscheWorks council chief Werner Weresch calls for more political support in the structural change of the auto industry. “The companies can no longer cover the financial costs for the qualification of their employees, which the entire transformation process makes necessary, alone,” said Weresch in Stuttgart. This requires long-term programs from the state, which has to participate in it, and which the normal short-time work allowance went out.

At the same time, Weresch urged more speed to expand the infrastructure for electric cars. With increasing electromobility, there is a risk of queues forming at the charging station. “Above all in Europe, the charging infrastructure must be consistently expanded with uniform standards. It must be possible to drive an e-car from Scandinavia to Sicily, for example, without having to worry about where the car can be loaded. ”

In addition, the head of the works council demanded the continued expansion of renewable energies. “It’s about the entire ecological balance. What is the use of charging my electric car with coal or nuclear power? “

In the long term, it must be ensured that only green electricity from the sun or wind power is used. And the production of electric cars must also be as CO2-neutral as possible, like Porsche strive for it with its Taycan factory.
