Following the launch of local public charging network Revive, Siemens Mobility is working with Alfen and ENGIE EV Solutions (formerly ChargePoint Services) to deliver new charging hubs and more than 120 new EV connections across the West of England.
Revive is a public charging network that will feature four dedicated charging hubs around Bristol, Bath, South Gloucestershire and Somerset. Each hub will feature between four and eight Siemens Mobility QC45 rapid chargers. The network will also feature an additional 120 new or upgraded connections over the next year.
The UK’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles is funding the new charging network through a £7.1-million ($9.3-million) award to the local governments as part of the Go Ultra Low West (GULW) program, which aims to promote the uptake of plug-in vehicles in the region.
For the program, Dutch manufacturer Alfen is set to supply 45 or more dual-socket AC smart charge points. ENGIE EV Solutions will operate the network and provide the interface with drivers. With ENGIE on board, users of the local Revive network will also have access to any charger within ENGIE’s nationwide GeniePoint Network. GeniePoint users will also be able to use the Revive chargers as well.
Alex Bamberg, Managing Director of ENGIE EV Solutions, said, “The Revive network demonstrates the success of multiple organizations coming together to develop electric vehicle charging provision across the West of England. With total interoperability with our nationwide GeniePoint Network, we are enabling drivers to make the switch to greener mobility on the road to Zero Carbon Transport.”
