Arizona’s attorney general says the Phoenix airport’s new $4 ride-hailing fee is most likely unconstitutional, AP reports.
Attorney General Mark Brnovich believes the city council-approved fees probably violate a 2018 ballot measure that forbids higher taxes on services.
The Arizona Supreme Court will make a final decision on the case. If the fee is deemed illegal and not repealed by the city, Phoenix could lose its share of state revenue, which is a third of its general fund budget.
