Sendy, a Nairobi, Kenya logistics startup providing a delivery solution for business, raised $20m in Series B funding.
The round was led by Atlantica Ventures, with participation from Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Asia Africa Investment, Sunu Capital, Enza Capital, Vested World and Kepple Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to grow operations, develop the platform and expand its reach to West Africa in 2020.
Co-founded in 2015 by CEO Mesh Alloys, Evanson Biwott, Don Okoth and Malaika Judd, Sendy provides an on-demand platform that links clients to drivers and vehicles for delivery of goods. A mobile app manages drivers for deliveries, generating metrics and handling payments.
Clients include Unilever, DHL, Maersk, Safaricom and Jumia, among others.
The company currently has offices in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and features over 5,000 drivers on its system.
