Wolfsburg expanded with the compact SUV ID.4 VW his new electric car family this year. Like the ID.3 hatchback, which is about to be launched on the market, the new one is based on the modular electrical construction kit, which allows different drive and battery variants. At the start there is a version with rear-wheel drive, later an all-wheel model follows. Precise technical data VW on the occasion of the premiere of a very close-to-series study.

Motors and battery packs should be based on the ID.3, the top version of which is 150 kW / 204 hp and stores up to 77 kilowatt hours of electrical energy. VW specifies the maximum range of the ID.4 around 500 kilometers – almost 50 kilometers less than the smaller ID.3.

Visually, the ID.4 is based on the somewhat more rounded design language of VW electric cars compared to conventional models. In comparison with the previous study ID Crozz, the model close to the series is significantly less coupé-like. Prices are not yet known, but should start in the range of 35,000 to 40,000 euros.

In parallel to the premiere of the ID.4, VW is presenting the final series version of the ID.3. The five-door model can now also be freely customized in the online configurator. The entry-level model ID.3 Pure with 45 kWh battery, 330 km range and 93 kW / 126 hp costs just under 30,000 euros.
