Mitsubishi Electric, which belongs to Mitsubishi, has introduced a lidar for autonomous driving.
Mitsubishi Electric has introduced its own lidar, which operates on the basis of a microelectromechanical system (MEMS). The lidar goes wide to better detect objects and distances.
The lidar emits laser light on two axes, what with MEMS mirroring is achieved and so you get a wide 3D image of the environment. The Lidar solution from Japan also comes up as a compact solution that will be relatively inexpensive. The device is intended for autonomous driving and has a volume of 900 cm³.
The sensor implies the largest electromagnetic MEMS mirror in the industry. It measures seven by five millimeters and scans both horizontally and vertically. It reaches plus / minus 15 degrees on the horizontal axis and plus / minus 6 degrees on the vertical axis. The goal should be 25 degrees with a volume of 350 cm³.
Nevertheless, the sensor is relatively light, since the mechanically driven motor requires fewer parts. This also increases the robustness of the lidar sensor. By optimizing the arrangement, optical vignetting is suppressed so that there is no distortion from internal components.
