Roush shuts its doors after 2 workers test positive for coronavirus

Roush Enterprises has shuttered its facility in Allen Park after two employees there tested positive for COVID-19/coronavirus.

The facility, called B9, is located on Southfield Road. It has been closed since Tuesday, CEO Evan Lyall told employees in a company email.

Roush, based in Livonia, engineers and manufactures high performance components for cars often used in street and competitive racing.

Lyall said human resources and employee health and  safety are assessing the cases and identifying people who may have been in direct contact with the affected employees. Those who are identified will be contacted by human resources.

The B9 building will remain inaccessible through the duration of the assessment and disinfection process, Lyall said.

“We are recommending that any employee who was in B9 between the dates of March 6th-20th should self-quarantine for 14 days from the last date you were in B9,” Lyall wrote.

This recommendation is based on the Centers for Disease Control’s 14-day self-quarantine guidelines for potential exposure.

At least two other auto industry workers tested positive for coronavirus forcing other facilities to close Wednesday.

Earlier Wednesday, Dana Inc. in Warren sent workers home and closed its facility until at least March 31 after learning late Tuesday that an employee there tested positive.

Also, officials at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles sent home the few remaining workers at the MOPAR parts distribution center in Center Line on Wednesday morning after at least one employee tested positive for coronavirus, the UAW confirmed. Other tests are pending confirmation.
