Chevrolet Expands Its Popular Monza Sedan Lineup in China

2020-04-10

SHANGHAI – Chevrolet today announced the expansion of the lineup of its best-selling nameplate in China, the Monza sporty compact sedan. Two new variants featuring a new Ecotec 1.5L engine that meets the China 6 B emission standard are now being offered.

The new Monza family members are available in five exterior colors and priced at RMB 111,900 and RMB 117,900.

“The Monza has been quite popular among younger car buyers since its debut last March, with styling and technology that enhance the ownership experience,” said Scott Lawson, general director of Chevrolet for SAIC-GM. “The new variants offer a wider range of propulsion solutions that provide outstanding fuel efficiency and performance to meet our diverse customer needs.”

The new Ecotec 1.5L DVVT four-cylinder engine produces maximum power of 83 kW and maximum torque of 141 Nm. Equipped with the intelligent start-stop function and paired with a six-speed DSS transmission, it has fuel consumption of 5.9 liters/100 km.

The two new Monzas also incorporate Chevrolet’s intelligent technology. They come with the MyLink+ infotainment system with OnStar. Customers will receive 100G of free OnStar 4G LTE data service every year.

The new Monza variants are being sold alongside the current five variants with 1.3T and 1.0T dual injection turbocharged engines. Those who purchase any Monza model can enjoy an eight-year or 160,000-km warranty for major engine and transmission parts, and receive favorable financing, including zero down payment and a monthly installment as low as RMB 799 for the first year.

The Monza was inspired by the famous Monza racing circuit in Italy. As a classic Chevrolet nameplate, it represents the speed and passion that are part of the brand’s DNA. More than 100,000 units were delivered in China last year, accounting for a quarter of the brand’s sales.
