Rüsselsheim/Eisenach. Change of leadership at the Opel plant in Eisenach: Fernando Andreu was named Plant Manager of the Thuringian facility effective January 8. The 47 year-old Andreu was previously Assistant Plant Manager at the Opel plant in Zaragoza, Spain, and succeeds Pieter Ruts, who is named Industrial Program Director.
Andreu knows the Eisenach plant well having worked there for more than five years in total. He was latterly Assistant Plant Manager before he moved in the same role to Zaragoza in 2015. In his new position, Ruts is to take responsibility for the planned introduction of the efficient EMP2 platform from Groupe PSA at the Eisenach plant. Andreu and Ruts report to Rémi Girardon, Managing Director Manufacturing Opel Automobile GmbH.
“Fernando Andreu is a production expert who knows the Eisenach plant well and with his wealth of experience from Zaragoza he will add new momentum. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Pieter Ruts who excellently prepared the Eisenach site for the current challenges and will now apply all his expertise to the important transition to the new concern-wide technologies“, said Girardon.
