The national platform Future of Mobility (NPM) demands more money for the infrastructure for autonomous driving.

In September 2018, the cabinet decided to convene the “National Platform for the Future of Mobility”, which deals with modern mobility. The body, which has so far hardly appeared, is now calling for increased digitization of the Transport infrastructure.

The government, according to the call, should show more commitment in the area of autonomous and connected driving. Above all, the infrastructure would have to be prepared for this. In fact, not only are investments in this direction missing, but also fundamental standards. These should be based on international rules and presented transparently.

This starts with Networking standardwho also the German Minister of Transport Scouring because it was not passed. WLANp (DSRC) and mobile radio (C-V2X) face each other.

The NPM commission calls for a digital twin of the infrastructure, i.e. a digital image of the surroundings, for vehicles with higher automation. But things as simple as precise lane markings are also important to get the robot taxis on the road.

The TÜV also wants to be more closely involved, not only to check the vehicle but also to check the software and data. Updates are a critical factor that needs to be investigated.

The UN is currently working on the Admission criteria for level 3 and the first models are already in the starting position.
