Wolfsburg Volkswagen sold significantly fewer vehicles worldwide due to the corona crisis. However, the decline in May, at minus 33.7 percent to 609,400 vehicles, was less pronounced than in the previous month. Deliveries slumped 45 percent in April because production in Europe stopped and the trade to protect against the virus hadn’t opened.

In May, 147,400 vehicles in Western Europe rolled 57 percent less to customers than in the previous year, according to the group figures published on Friday. Deliveries in North America fell 39 percent.
