Trade unions: “CNH Industrial does not fail in commitments”

In the meeting held today at the Ministry of Economic Development, CNH Industrial illustrated the industrial situation and explained at what point is the application of the group framework agreement of 10 March 2020.

The actions decided for Pregnana, which unfortunately will cease production next year (and on which a regional discussion is underway) for a re-industrialization project, and for San Mauro, which will be converted into a logistics hub, continue as per local agreements necessary to guarantee workers employment.

In other factories, business is resuming not without problems due to falling demand, but in some sectors there is a market recovery. In Foggia and Turin engines there is a recovery in production, but in Foggia the damocle sword remains of the failure of the FCA contract. Instead, the use of social safety nets in Turin driveline is heavier. Even in Modena and Jesi the production projections are quite comforting despite the impact of the Covid emergency. Iveco Defense has had absolutely reduced stops and therefore does not present any particular problems.

Production volumes are also recovering in Suzzara and Piacenza. It is in Brescia and Lecce, however, that the main warning signs occur, so much so that CNHI has declared that it is reconsidering their position and their industrial plan. More specifically in Brescia, for which new investments have been planned, and in Lecce, for which no reorganization has been planned and indeed a robust increase in volumes had been envisaged, there is a strong suffering due to the drop in orders, which is even pushing the company management to reconsider the business plan.

“The company’s position is evidently very serious since it challenges the commitments made with the framework agreement of 10 March and casts a shadow over the future of the Brescia plant, with 2,000 employees, and the Lecce plant, with 700 employees. “, attack Fim, Fiom, Uilm, Fismic, Uglm, Aqcfr.

“The government must absolutely intervene before it is too late and speak with the top management, also because there is a fear that other European countries may attract the investments planned for Italy”, the unions add. “We have been warning the institutions for some time of the industrial desertification risks of the automotive sector exacerbated by the covid emergency and by the fact that Italy continues to lack an industrial policy”.

“For these reasons, we ask for a table to be convened immediately with Ministers Patuanelli and Catalfo. We ask CNH Industrial for full compliance with the agreement of 10 March 2020”, conclude the unions, which have declared the state of agitation in all the plants , with an eight hour strike reference package to be carried out in July.
