Hyundai Motor India (HMI) today announced overall sales of 21,320 units in the domestic market in June across India.
The company also reported exporting 5,500 units to key markets abroad which include the Middle-East, South Africa and Latin America.
While the June 2020 sales numbers are 50 percent lower compared to its sales in June 2019, they are still significantly higher (+209%) in comparison to Hyundai’s sales in the month of May when it had only managed to sell 6,883 units in the initial phase of economic re-opening after a one and a half month of lockdown.
The main driving force that can be attributed to be pushing the carmaker on the road to recovery has been the newly launched second-generation Creta. Hyundai has huge anticipations from the new model and is already witnessing some positive response with claimed 30,000 bookings between March 2 and June 6.
According to Tarun Garg, director, Sales, Marketing and Service, HMI, “As a responsible and caring brand, Hyundai Motor India is committed to support country’s objective of reviving the economy at the earliest. Our newly launched products like the all-new Creta, new Verna and the new Aura, as well as traditionally strong brands such as the Elite i20, Venue, Santro and Grand i10 Nios, have been receiving encouraging customer response.”
