Renault confirms the signing of Mesonero-Romanos, ex of Seat, for its Design team

The French automaker Renault has confirmed the hiring of Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, former Design Director of the Spanish firm Seat, as a new member of the company’s Design team.

As reported by the diamond company in a statement, Mesonero-Romanos will join the group’s Design team on October 1 and will report to Laurens van den Acker, executive vice president of Corporate Design and member of the company’s executive committee.

Given this appointment, Van den Acker was delighted to welcome the former Seat executive to his team and said that his “excellent work” has been “widely recognized” by the automotive industry.

The arrival of the Spanish designer at Renault took place within the framework of the hiring of Luca de Meo, President of Seat until the beginning of this year, as the new CEO of the French company.

Mesonero-Romanos, 52, served as Seat Design Director from 2011 to this year and has been responsible for the aesthetics of models such as the Ateca, Arona and Tarraco SUVs, as well as the fifth generation Ibiza.

The new member of the Renault Design team was awarded the Eurostars award in the Design category in 2018. Before joining Seat, he worked at Renault on different projects and in 2009 became Design Director of Renault Samsung Motors in Korea. South.

Between 1994 and 2001, he worked on several Design projects for models of the Seat, Volkswagen, Audi and Lamborghini brands.
