California has set a goal of putting 5 million EVs on the state’s roads by 2030, and supporting those vehicles with 250,000 chargers. The Sonoma Coast Incentive Project, one of a statewide web of organizations and initiatives designed to further these goals, will make some $6.75 million in incentives available over the next three years for the purchase and installation of public EV chargers in Sonoma and Mendocino counties.
Qualifying sites can now apply for rebates to help cover eligible equipment and installation costs. Businesses, nonprofits and government entities can apply for rebates of up to $7,500 per Level 2 connector, and up to $80,000 per DC fast charger.
Additional incentives are available for sites within unincorporated, low-income or disadvantaged communities. A minimum of 25% of the funding is earmarked for disadvantaged and low-income communities.
