Europa Press: Seat will return to production prior to the coronavirus this Monday, with the same shifts000224

The carmaker will do PCR test again to its more than 15,000 employees
BARCELONA, Aug 31 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Seat will return to the production of vehicles prior to the coronavirus crisis on Monday, with the same number of shifts, the same day it will resume activity after the August break, sources from the automotive industry have informed Europa Press.
The Martorell (Barcelona) plant will restore today the second production shift of line 3, where the Audi A1 is manufactured, thus reaching the number of shifts prior to the impact of Covid-19.
The car manufacturer will thus work with three shifts on Line 2 (that of the Seat León and the Cupra León) and with two shifts on Line 1 (Ibiza and Arona), in addition to those of Line 3.
With this, the daily production volume will be around 2,000 cars per day, a figure lower than the daily production before the pandemic, when it was 2,200.

However, for September, six additional shifts have been scheduled on Saturdays for all three lines, after additional shifts were also held in July and more are planned for the remainder of the year.
This implies that, with respect to the last operational program, the Martorell automobile company has increased production by 6,000 vehicles.
PCR TESTING OF EMPLOYEES
Seat is carrying out PCR tests on its more than 15,000 employees before their reinstatement after the holidays, to guarantee their safety and avoid outbreaks of Covid-19, as it did in April when production was resumed.
The company will maintain all the health and safety measures established since then, such as the use of masks, the safety distance and a strict cleaning protocol in the facilities.
CUPRA FORMENTOR AND SEAT LEÓN PHEV
Production of the Cupra Formentor and the Seat León PHEV will begin in the last four months of the year, with the latter marking the beginning of the electrification of the Seat plant.
Both cars are added to the new Seat Leon and Cupra Leon models that have also started to be manufactured this year at the Martorell factory.
