The Spanish company for charging solutions for electric vehicles Wallbox has acquired the majority of the share capital of the also Spanish platform for access and payment to charging points Electromaps.
As the firm has reported, this acquisition allows Wallbox to take a step forward in promoting and facilitating the use of electrified vehicles, opening the door for consumers to take an active role not only in recharging their vehicle, but also in the managing energy and giving you the information you need.
Electromaps is a digital platform that provides its 100,000 users with access to electric vehicle charging points. The application also allows payment directly from the mobile phone, unifying the entire recharging infrastructure and improving the experience of drivers of ‘zero emissions’ cars.
Company sources have assured Europa Press that 100% of the Electromaps workforce will join Wallbox after the acquisition.

Likewise, the founders of Electromaps, Xavi Canabisll and Jordi Rodríguez, will continue to lead and develop this platform project, which will maintain its brand for the time being, and will become part of Wallbox’s shareholders.
“This is a strategic operation, since, by including access to public charging in our portfolio of services, we are making even more progress towards creating a complete ecosystem for charging electric cars in the markets where we operate,” said the CEO of Wallbox, Enric Asunción.
For his part, Cañadasll has indicated that teaming up with Wallbox will allow his company to maintain its “leadership” position in the Iberian Peninsula and expand to other markets.
Founded in 2009, Electromaps has been a pioneer in this market segment. Currently it has reached 120,000 recharging points globally and has around 100,000 registered users.
“These figures show that we have become both an essential travel companion for electric vehicle users and an ally of recharging point operators”, Rodríguez claimed.
