BMW and Tactile Mobility

The manufacturer BMW will in future be working with Tactile Mobility from Israel.

BMW has entered into a cooperation with the Israeli company Tactile Mobility Software. This is about the software for tactile data and sensors. BMW will depend on his vehicles with their software 2021 equip.

The software uses the sensor data to determine the road conditions in real time. This data can be used for the design of the suspension and for the assistance systems. This is how you want to increase performance and safety in the car.

The software called “VehicleDNA-Software” allows, for example, the representation of the relationships between suspension, drive, braking efficiency and tire condition. Two modules collect the data in combination, the embedded software and the cloud software. The software can also be subsequently integrated via an OBD connection.

In the first module, the non-visual sensor data such as speed, steering, engine speed are recorded. This is used to determine the grip, for example. The module is built into the ECU and an algorithm works on it. The cloud module determines the data from the sensors. The data processing needs an internet connection.

The decision on how to use the cloud data is made by the on-board computer. In this way, for example, the braking distance can be shortened or road grip can be optimized through the suspension.

The secondary SurfaceDNA data analysis platform from Tactile Mobility can also be used to create maps. The SurfaceDNA is in principle a mix of map layers that were collected by the vehicle. In this way, the collected data can be recorded on a map. BMW is co-owner of HERE.
