Europa Press: Oliver Zipse (BMW) will chair the association of European vehicle manufacturers in 2021 001 081

BRUSSELS, Dec. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) has appointed Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the BMW Group, the new Chairman of the organization for the next financial year, a position that may be renewed for an additional year.
As reported by ACEA in a statement, the decision to appoint Zipse was made within the framework of the meeting of the organization’s steering committee, made up of the heads of vehicle manufacturers installed in Europe.
In this way, the president of the BMW consortium replaces Michael Manley, CEO of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) group and current president of ACEA.
Before his appointment, the new head of ACEA pointed out that 2021 will be a “key” year for the automotive industry in Europe in the transition towards sustainable mobility. “This aspiration occurs in a context of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has strongly impacted the world economy and the automotive sector,” he said.
However, the manager was “convinced” of the need to “join forces” between different industries and with political leaders to achieve the greatest possible impact in the fight against climate change.
