The Teledyne company buys the infrared specialist FLIR.
The sensor and IT conglomerate Teledyne has the manufacturer of infrared cameras FLIR accepted.
FLIR switched to Teledyne for an amount of eight billion US dollars, some of which also consists of stock portfolios. Teledyne intends to add the capabilities in this area to its portfolio in order to obtain a better market position.
FLIR manufactures night vision technology for the automotive and military sectors. For example, the recently used by Amazon acquired start-up Zoox the sensor technology from FLIR. Teledyne itself is also interested in the vehicle sector, as it has a lidar in its portfolio and which is currently used by NASA.
The takeover requires the approval of the relevant authorities, which should be available by mid-year.
