The think tank Rinspeed is presenting its Citysnap concept at the virtual CES 2021.
Every year at CES, Rinspeed presents a new study. This year, the previous models of the Snap category on, which has now become a brand has advanced. This is a modular system of superstructure and substructure.
Citysnap counteracts the current traffic problems with delivery traffic, which has intensified with the pandemic. The Citysnap logistics concept provides for a modular structure that is distributed and collected by mobile packing stations.
The concept was developed based on traffic situations in 50 cities in Germany. Citysnap, according to Rinspeed, could generate savings potential. This could cut costs by around 17 percent and reduce the number of vehicles in use by half.
Since autonomous driving is a long time coming, the concept is designed with one person driving. As soon as the technology is mature, however, this position will also be vacant. The Citysnap is already loaded and unloaded automatically. The freight actually arrives at the recipient, and if requested, to work. Temporary packing stations are set up there, from which you can take your delivery. This is not only intended to reduce traffic, but also to reduce emissions and it protects deliveries against theft.
