Tata Motors delivers 100 Safaris in Delhi-NCR in a day

Tata Motors, which has received a strong market response to the recently launched new Safari, has delivered 100 units of its new flagship in the key Delhi-NCR region.

The company says most of the customers have chosen the XZA+ trim with Royal Blue and Orcus White standing out as the colour of preference. Launched at a starting price of Rs 14.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the 6-/7-seater, the new Safari is targeted at the new-age SUV customer.

Tata Motors is offering the latest generation of the SUV in a total of six variants, including options of manual and automatic transmission as well as six / seven-seat configurations. The prices range from Rs 14.69 lakh for the entry-level XE variant to Rs 20.20 lakh for the top-end XZ+ (Adventure Persona edition) in the manual trims, while are pegged between Rs 17.25 lakh and Rs 21.45 lakh for the automatic versions of the full-blown SUV.

The new Tata Safari is based on Jaguar Land Rover’s D8 (Omega Arc) platform which also underpins its sibling – Tata Harrier. The SUV comes powered by a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops 167bhp and 350Nm of torque. The powertrain comes mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed Hyundai-sourced torque convertor automatic transmission.

In terms of gizmos, the new Tata Safari offers a digital instrument cluster, 9-speaker Harman sound system paired with an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also offers a panoramic sunroof as well split projector headlamps and LED DRLs upfront. The body-on-frame SUV rides on 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

The new Tata Safari comes equipped with six airbags, ABS and EBD, hill-start-assist, and corner-stability control among other active safety features on-board.

Commenting on these deliveries, Ritesh Khare, Zonal Manager, North, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “We are elated to see the response coming in for the all-new Safari. The delivery of 100 Safaris on a single day is a proof of the same. Built on the successful OMEGARC platform which is derived from the legendary D8 platform, this vehicle is the perfect combination of good looks and power without compromising on the drive and ride quality.”

Growing demand from Delhi-NCR
In Delhi-NCR, Tata Motors claims it has registered a 9% growth YTD FY2021 in overall passenger vehicles. Despite a challenging year, Tata Motors has clocked over 23,000 unit sales every month successively from October 2020. Furthermore, in Q3 FY2021, the Tata Motors PV business posted its highest sales in the last 33 quarters. The rising demand can be attributed to the BS VI range, which was launched last year, under the New Forever philosophy of the company.

Tata Motors, which has seen a scintillating fiscal year, due to new model launches and demand for its five-star safety-rated products like the Nexon and Altroz, has reported robust sales in February. The carmaker sold 27,225 units, registering 119 percent YoY growth (February 2020: 12,430).

The company is bullish on growth from the UV segment, where its Nexon crossover is giving a tough fight to competitors such as the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai’s Venue and Kia’s Sonet. In the midsized segment, the Harrier and newly-launched Safari too aim to disrupt the category with their price-to-value equation on offer to customers.
