Lidar range at one kilometer

The start-up AEye has made a breakthrough in the lidar segment: a range of 1,000 meters.

Of the Lidar sensor Some companies are considered indispensable, others shy away from the high costs. But the sensor is getting cheaper and how AEye now proves also getting more powerful. The sensor is considered the main perception option for the car, after all, it allows 3D recognition.

But range has always been a problem up to now, because the faster a car drives, the further the car must be able to “see”. The higher the speed, the more meters per second you cover, but these have to be recorded by the sensors when the car drives by itself.

The 4Sight M lidar sensor reaches 1,000 meters, which has been verified by the independent company VSI Labs. The lidar sensor detects a brick on the street at a distance of just 160 meters. The sensor detects the rough things at a distance of one kilometer, using 10 Hz.
