STUTTGART (GERMANY), 11 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The German car company Porsche, of the Volkswagen group, sold 246,375 cars worldwide in 2017, which represents an increase of 4% over the previous year and exceed the record set that year, according to data published by the company.

The German manufacturer stressed that this boost in their deliveries during the past year was possible thanks to the 28,000 units sold by the new Panamera, which registered a growth of 83% compared to the previous year, as well as the 25,000 units that delivered the 718 models, which exceeded “significantly” the figures of the previous year, with an increase of 6%.

The head of Sales and Marketing of Porsche, Detlev von Platen, explained that the hybrid versions of the new Panamera, in particular, were “very well received” by the clients of the firm.

In Europe, Porsche sold 80,262 cars in 2017, which translates into a rise of 2% compared to the commercial volume registered in 2016. For its part, it delivered 67,714 vehicles in the Americas, 3% more.

However, it was in the Asia-Pacific, Africa and Middle East regions where the sports brand registered the highest growth. There, it registered 98,399 cars, 6% more than in 2016. Of these almost 100,000 units, 71,508 units (+ 10%) were sold in China, “the largest market for Porsche”.

Von Platen stressed that, in 2018, the German manufacturer will launch the new Cayenne, “what promises greater growth” of the brand. “However, exclusivity will continue to be our main priority in the future.” The goal for 2018 is to stabilize the figures in the high levels reached in 2017, “he said.
