Bengaluru-based startup Netradyne, engaged in developing AI-based solutions for the auto industry to prevent road accidents, has tied up with nonprofit organization Drive Smart Drive Safe (D2S) to analyze the data gathered from its field trials, and submit its findings to the road transport ministry.
The data, they hoped in a press release, could help in the overall efforts of the government to fix the accident-prone spots they have identified along the trial route.
The two organizations have successfully completed a 3500-km car rally by a five-member women team from Amritsar to Kanyakumari as part of the government’s India Against Road Crash programme. The cars, fitted with Netradyne’s AI-based driver assistance tool Driver-i, have gathered volumes of data along the route.
Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh had launched the rally in February as part of the national road safety month. “The data will be used to upgrade road infrastructure along the car rally route,” D2S founder Ramashankar Pandey said.
Netradyne vice president Durgadutt Nedungadi said road accidents leave about 5 crore people injured every year. The startup is working towards reducing accidents by half by 2030 with AI-based solutions.
