Porsche India has released its official sales figures for the first quarter of calendar year 2021, 14 days after Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE has reported its best first quarter result in five years. In Q1 CY2021, 2,064 new cars were delivered to Porsche customers in the GCC, the Levant, Africa and India. Porsche India contributed 154 new car sales, realising its best quarterly results overall in seven years. With a defined expansion strategy in place, the brand is looking to further expand its footprint in the market in the next 12 months.
Porsche’s authorised dealers, including the recently added Infinity Cars with its new showroom in Mumbai, sold a total of 154 cars between January to March, which constitutes 52 percent growth over the same period last year.
Manolito Vujicic, Brand Head for Porsche India, says the result is welcome news off the back of continuing challenges brought about by Covid-19: “Despite the ever-changing pandemic-related measures, we have managed to outperform our quarterly sales results of the past seven years and secured the highest first quarter order intake in five years. This drives our motivation for the coming months. We at Porsche India are incredibly proud of the effort and hard work from our business partners to achieve this result. We must also thank our customers who have remained loyal and helped us achieve this fantastic result to make Porsche India one of the fastest growing luxury automotive brands across the country in 2021.”
New launches drive growth, Macan remains popular
The key to this performance has been a number of launches including four variants of the new Panamera luxury performance sedan that resulted in an average of one new delivery every week to the end of March. Porsche India also recorded the highest number of Macan SUVs sold in a quarter since 2015.
The result was a 38 percent YoY increase in the delivery of SUVs along with continuing demand for Porsche’s range of two-door sports cars that rose by 26 percent for the 911, 718 Boxster and Cayman over the first three months of 2020.
Porsche’s presence in the market has been enhanced with the recent opening of two new facilities comprising Porsche Studio Delhi and the new showroom in Mumbai.

Porsche India plans to open five new facilities in major cities in the next 12 months. A new dealer in Bangalore is to be announced soon. In addition, the network expansion plan includes workshop upgrades for current facilities.
The organization has also defined measures to continue the sales momentum in the coming months with a focus on further enhanced customer service and product innovations. New attractive offers will include the Appreciation Referral Programme, a platform for existing customers to invite friends and relatives to join the Porsche family to avail exclusive benefits. Porsche India is also preparing for the expansion of its model offering, including the launch of the fully electric Taycan in India.
