Frankfurt Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess withdraws from the supervisory boards of Seat and Skoda. The 62-year-old will hand over the chairmanship of the supervisory bodies of the two subsidiaries, the Handelsblatt learned on Thursday from corporate circles. In return, he wants to take care of building a powerful team that develops software. The company did not comment.
At Skoda, Chief Technology Officer Thomas Schmall will take over the position and at Seat Murat Aksel, responsible for purchasing on the Volkswagen Board of Management.
In the ranks of the subsidiaries, some managers are critical of Diess’ withdrawal. This increases concern that Seat and Skoda are not in the focus of the CEO, report group insiders. In the coming years, the model range of the two manufacturers is to be coordinated more closely with that of the core brand VW in order to minimize existing overlaps.
