Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) which today announced its Q4 and full-year FY2021 results also revealed its future product roadmap to shareholders.
After introducing the new Mahindra Thar, which is already a resounding success, given its sales of 16,177 units and 55,000 bookings in a little over six months since launch in October 2020, the company is looking to intensify its assault in the utility vehicle (UV) segment with a total of nine new models by 2026.
This would include four hybrid-electric models and two all-electric UVs from its ‘Born Electric’ programme, which aims at ground-up development of these EVs with collaboration between its two R&D centres – MRV Chennai and MNATC Detroit – along with the company’s Mahindra Advanced Design Europe facility in the UK, which will be operational from July 1, 2021.
While this year will see the introduction of the new fourth-generation Mahindra Scorpio (codenamed: Z101) as well as the roll out of the new XUV700 hybrid, the company will bring the five-door Thar and an all-new Bolero between 2023 and 2026.
An all-new hybrid XUV300 sub-compact crossover is slated for release between 2024 and 2027, alongside two new monocoque models – W620 and V201 – in the same timeline. All the three products will feature hybrid-electric technology in order to meet the upcoming RDE regulations.
The W620, which will get the XUV900 moniker, according to Autocar Professional‘s sister publication Autocar India, will be the production form of the Mahindra XUV Aero SUV-coupe concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. The lifestyle SUV (pictured above) is also expected to share its mechanicals with the XUV700 on which it is likely to be based upon.
The two all-electric models classified as the Born EV1 and Born EV2 are projected between 2025 and 2026.
