@Daimler: Mercedes-AMG Motorsport and BWT enter strategic partnership

Affalterbach. The performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach and Europe’s market leader in water technology are embarking on an intense cooperation on and off the race track. Mercedes-AMG Teams GetSpeed Performance, GruppeM Racing, Haupt Racing Team and Toksport WRT will be racing in BWT’s pink livery in the most popular races and international series. Moreover, multiple Mercedes-AMG Drivers are carrying BWT’s message “Change the world. Sip by sip” on their new helmets. At the race tracks, but also at the corporate headquarters in Affalterbach, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport will benefit from BWT’s patented technology.

  • A total of 6 Mercedes-AMG GT3s on the grid with the unique BWT livery
  • “Bottle Free Zones” during race participations of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing Teams
  • Use of BWT technology also at the corporate headquarters in Affalterbach

There was a time when a race car from Mercedes-AMG in the colours of BWT racked up considerable success. In the 2017 DTM season, Lucas Auer won three races with a Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM. In the current motorsport season, the teams GetSpeed Performance, GruppeM Racing, Haupt Racing Team and Toksport WRT not only want to build on this, but also add further achievements or even title wins. In the endurance highlight, the ADAC TOTAL 24h Race Nürburgring, Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed will be competing with two Mercedes-AMG GT3s in pink. Moreover, in DTM, the partnership includes the #4 Mercedes-AMG Team HRT car raced by Maximilian Götz and the Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing entry with starting number 8, driven by Daniel Juncadella. Mercedes-AMG Team HRT is also racing in BWT colours in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup. In ADAC GT Masters, the partnership between AMG and BWT is represented by the #22 Mercedes-AMG GT3 run by Mercedes-AMG Team Toksport.

With Maro Engel, Maximilian Götz, Jules Gounon, Daniel Juncadella, Raffaele Marciello and Luca Stolz, multiple Mercedes-AMG Drivers will be carrying the message “Change the world. Sip by sip” on their helmets this season, supporting the “Bottle Free Zone Concept” by BWT as a result. Various Customer Racing Teams are implementing this concept during their race participations as they completely refrain from transport and use of disposable plastic bottles.

At its corporate headquarters, Mercedes-AMG is also using the BWT technology: for instance, a Bottle Free Zone will be implemented in the Private Lounge in Affalterbach. Moreover, the water treatment systems with state-of-the-art BWT filter technology have been available for the employees during their everyday work for a considerable time already. Additionally, the systems are also to be used during AMG Driving Academy events to prevent the use of disposable plastic bottles.

BWT has been known for its extraordinary brand presence in motorsport for many years. Europe’s market leader in water treatment is driven by a clear mission: making water available in perfect drinking quality everywhere in the world. By means of the patented BWT technologies, it is possible to prepare local water to drinking quality while also enriching it with valuable minerals like magnesium, zinc and silica.

Christoph Sagemüller, head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport: “With BWT, we have a strong partner at our side that has been committed to motorsport for many years. I am particularly happy by the fact that we are planning several joint activities together with BWT away from the race track as well. For instance that our customers will get the opportunity to use the future-oriented BWT technology at the AMG Driving Academy in the future and therefore avoid plastic waste. We, our teams and drivers will be doing our utmost to spread the BWT message by as many racing achievements as possible.”

Maro Engel, Mercedes-AMG brand ambassador: “I am delighted to be able to go out on track with no less than two different Mercedes-AMG GT3s in the BWT colours. Both in ADAC GT Masters with Toksport WRT and in the Endurance Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe with HRT, we certainly are visually standing out in the field. And, of course, we will do everything to ensure that we can show the pink colour at the front of the field as often as possible.”

Lutz Hübner, CMO BWT Group: “I am happy that we have managed to get Mercedes-AMG on board as a great partner that is convinced by our unique Bottle Free Zone Concept. With Mercedes-AMG, we share the aspiration for high-tech products and engineering at the highest level. The participation of the Mercedes-AMG GT3s in our colours in popular national and international race series will further strengthen our brand presence. Like we are committed to achieving the perfect quality for our products, we will also be making our contribution to ensure that the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport teams will be able to achieve their high goals at the race track.”
