Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition 2022
The Toyota Tacoma is a pickup of almost 5.40 meters in length marketed in North America that has just released the off-road version Trail Edition, with raised suspensions and rear differential lock.
The Toyota Tacoma double cab incorporates a particularly off-road variant in its range. To do this, Toyota’s “small” pick-up for the North American market incorporates a suspension kit that allows to gain 1.1 inches (2.8 cm) in the front axle and 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) in the rear. Likewise, Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT tires are mounted in sizes 265 / 70-16 112T (with a skinny height of 18.5 cm and a diameter of almost 78 cm) and the lower lip of the front bumper is removed. The way to achieve this lift is different on each axis.
While the front springs are replaced by longer ones, the rear rigid axle receives a welded supplement at the point where the leaf springs rest. With all this, the angle of attack registers a value of 34 degrees, the ventral one reaches 26.4 degrees, and the exit angle is satisfied with 23.6 degrees; good values, in any case, for a pick up of almost 5.40 meters in length.

Based on the Toyota Tacoma SR5 4 × 4
The starting point of this Tacoma Trail Edition is the SR5 4 × 4 finish, specially designed for use off the asphalt and equipped with a 100% lockable rear differential. The Trail Edition also adds the protective plates under the front axle typical of the TRD Off-Road finish.
The body color palette offers four alternatives, including Lunar Rock, exclusive to this version. To all this is added a grill with letters in bronze color, to match the wheels, which have a displaced throat that allows to gain 0.5 inches (1.27 cm) of track width both in the front and in the rear.
Under the hood of the Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition we find a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine that produces 278 hp and 359 Nm, with direct injection, variable timing and Atkinson cycle operation, very similar to that used by the Lexus RX 450h but without the hybrid part.

Apart from all this, the Toyota pickup offers a maximum towing capacity of 6,400 pounds (about 2,900 kilos) and includes a trailer hitch bracket, additional radiator for the automatic transmission fluid, another radiator for the power steering, a 130 amp alternator and Trailer Sway Control (TSC).
Sadly, we won’t see this 2022 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition easily rolling our roads as it won’t be officially sold in Europe, although we love to see that Toyota continues to go for pure off-roaders.
