New Anti-Microbial Protection Adhesive Overlaminates

Mactac has launched three new PermaGard adhesive vinyl film overlaminates, two of which use permanent adhesives, and one that’s removable. All, the company reports, have built-in protection aimed at protecting graphic images and high-touch areas by resisting microbe growth and eliminating microbial contaminants without releasing toxic substances into the air.

According to Mactac, the anti-microbial products also include UV inhibitors for slowing down color fade, are resistant to abrasion and moisture, have a durability of up to 3 years if used outdoors, and a two-year shelf-life.

Of the three adhesive-backed PermaGard Shield products, the company reports that two consist of 3.2-mil clear matte vinyl films backed with clear, pressure-sensitive adhesive (one permanent, and one removable), but differ in the type of liner used. The permanent shield makes use of a 50# glassline liner, while the removable one has a 78# clay-coated liner. The third product makes use of a 3.75-mil clear polypropylene film with a finish of textured gloss to cut glare, and has a permanent adhesive system which is protected by a 1.2-mil clear polyester liner.

Mactac reports the three antimicrobial adhesive vinyl films are designed for application in protecting graphics such as inkjet, photographic and screen prints and transparencies; high touch areas like offices, schools, gyms, entertainment venues, public transit stations, and restrooms; as well as ATMs, kiosks, counter tops, point-of-purchase displays, and distribution centers.
