New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Monday partially resumed operations at its manufacturing plant in Bidadi, Karnataka. The Bidadi facility has two units.
The automaker said it will operate according to the State and Central government directives and at the prescribed 50% workforce strength and enhance the training of all employees for the new normal, both in terms of facilities and processes.
“Since the outbreak of the pandemic, we are very clear that we will respond to the needs of those in the midst of this outbreak, making prompt decisions and taking immediate action to help ensure safety and security of all our employees and other stakeholders,” the company said in a media release.
The company said it is preparing to resume production soon to be able to cater to the immediate mobility needs of its customers and to clear the pending orders that could not be met due to the non-production days of the planned annual maintenance shutdown, followed by the lockdown.
The TKM release stated that it is focusing on vaccinating its employees as well as their families and extending its support to have dealer and supplier staff vaccinated too, so as to ensure lower risk and severity of infections.
The company had temporarily shut its plants in Bidadi from April 26 to May 14, 2021 for periodic maintenance.
