“The board on the Exide bound flank of Park Street flyover the maximum speed limit is 40km/hr. If someone is driving within 40kmph, the camera will flash a “Thank You” message. If the vehicle is driven between 40kmph and 50kmph, it will flash “Slow Down” and if its above 50kmph, the cameras will flash “Danger”.
“We often hear motorists complaining of not being aware of the speed limit on a road for which they have been fined. These cameras with display boards will give motorists an opportunity to take corrective measure,” explained an officer.
Sources said these speed enforcement cameras also allow traffic officials to track and photograph speeding vehicles and help in improved enforcement. These cameras can also detect multiple vehicles in different lanes and are fully functional in all weather conditions as well as at night. They are either battery-operated or have very low power requirement and can be paired with radar speed signs.
