Volvo Cars and Northvolt join forces to build battery gigafactory

Northvolt’s order book continues to grow. Weeks after registering $ 14 billion in orders from Volkswagen , one of its major shareholders, the young Swedish battery company for electric cars has announced that it has signed an agreement with Volvo Cars to build a new 50 gigawatt hour gigafactory in Europe.

This giant plant, capable of equipping between 500,000 and one million vehicles per year (depending on their size), should start in 2026, indicate the two partners. Its location is not yet decided, but they predict that it will use 100% renewable energy and employ 3,000 people.
