Flensburg, July 5, 2021. 274,152 new registrations Passenger cars (Passenger cars) caused registrations to increase by +24.5 percent in June 2021 compared to the same month of the previous year. The share of private registrations was 33.0 percent, +25.7 percent above the figure for the same month last year. Commercial registrations increased by 23.8 percent. At the end of the first six months of registration, a total of 1,390,889 new vehicles were +14.9 percent more New registrations registered than in the same period of the previous year.
With the Germans Brands Smart recorded the largest increase in June with +211.6 percent, followed by Opel (+69.3%) and VW (+46.1%). Double-digit increases in registrations were also evident at Audi (+29.0%), Mini (+27.2%) and BMW (+20.9%), while Porsche grew by +9.1 percent. In contrast, Ford (-27.1%) and Mercedes (-19.3%) recorded declines. The largest share of new registrations was also recorded in June brand VW with 20.8 percent.
Among the import brands, Tesla (+431.0%) and Suzuki (+210.0%) achieved the highest increases in registrations in the month under review. Alfa Romeo (+88.6%), Hyundai (+81.5%), Seat (+62.2%), Kia (+60.2%), Mazda (+59) also achieved an increase in registrations of more than 50 percent , 0%) and Toyota (+ 51.0%). In contrast, there were double-digit registration losses at Honda (-30.4%), Mitsubishi (-21.3%), Volvo (-20.8%) and Jaguar (-13.7%).

New registrations with fossil fuels, however, continued to decline compared with the same month of the previous year. After a decrease of -4.6 percent, the share of gasoline-powered cars was 39.5 percent, while the share of diesel cars was 19.9 percent after a decrease of -18.8 percent.
The 682 liquid and 467 natural gas vehicles achieved a combined plus of +5.4 percent, the share totaling 0.4 percent.
The average CO2 emissions of newly registered cars fell by -19.0 percent and reached a value of 121.7 g / km.
Around a quarter of all New registrations were SUVs (24.8% / + 55.0%), followed by the compact class (17.5% / + 3.4%) and the small cars (14.8% / + 25.5%). This accounted for almost 60 percent of all New registrations on these three Segments. The Segments Large vans (1.9% / – 17.5%), upper middle class (2.6% / – 3.1%) and upper class (0.7% / – 2.9%).
27,740 new Motorcycles were approved, +6.0 percent more than in the same month last year, the plus after the end of the first half of the year is +3.7 percent.
The commercial vehicle sector was consistently positive in June.
