Both entities have signed an agreement to promote self-consumption and electric mobility.
Iberdrola, a strategic partner of Faconauto, and the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP) are committed to promoting sustainability with the signing of a collaboration agreement. They will carry out activities that promote the contribution of energy solutions, such as self-consumption and electric mobility. In this way they will allow the town councils of the Valencian Community to contribute to sustainable development.
The agreement has been initialed at the headquarters of the institution by Rubén Alfaro, president of the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces; and by Joaquín Longares, Commercial delegate of Iberdrola in the Valencian Community.
For Rubén Alfaro, “the Federation needs to maintain collaboration with public and private entities since city councils must seek synergies in their strategy of creating a safe, sustainable and environmentally friendly city model. The fight against climate change concerns all municipal areas. Particularly in energy consumption where we need to advance, propose and reduce, also facilitating the democratization of energy for citizens ”.
For his part, Joaquín Longares, highlighted the importance of collaborating with the FVMP “to be able to have a common understanding of the different needs that the municipalities have. Advising on the possibilities that exist to contribute to a more sustainable development of their municipalities. With the implementation of self-consumption facilities and recharging points for electric vehicles, we can achieve a clean consumption of energy. Also promote among its citizens access to mobility without emissions and pollution ”.
Training days for municipalities
The signed agreement provides for the holding of different technical training sessions. In them, Iberdrola and FVMP technicians will discuss issues related to the new energy model. The different existing solutions in urban mobility issues will also be addressed; as well as the presentation of success stories on the collaboration between the municipalities and the company; and the development of workshops on the technical and economic measures of local regulation and the regulatory framework and municipal ordinances.
With the signing of the agreement, Iberdrola encourages the councils to join in the commitment it is carrying out for electrification and the transition towards a decarbonized economy. These are common objectives with the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, whose purposes include the promotion, execution and provision of business initiatives and activities with the public and private sectors that contribute to consolidating and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) .
