DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 25, 2021 – Improved headlights have earned the new 2021 Lincoln Nautilus the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety TOP SAFETY PICK award.
To qualify, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, as well as good or acceptable ratings in the passenger-side small overlap front test. It also needs an advanced or superior rating for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention and a good or acceptable headlight rating.
The 2021 Lincoln Nautilus, which debuted March 22, achieved those standards in all six Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crashworthiness evaluations. Lincoln’s midsize luxury SUV was also recognized for its improved LED projector headlights that reduce glare, available on Ultimate Package-equipped Lincoln Black Label and Reserve trim level vehicles.
With its signature design elements inspired by the horizon, Nautilus offers Lincoln clients a serene, sanctuary-like interior. Smooth ride and handling enhance the luxury SUV’s effortless performance, while intuitive technologies bring smart new levels of simplicity and connectivity.
Michael Sprague, Lincoln North America director, says Nautilus plays a critical role for the brand, bringing in new clients who appreciate the flexibility of a larger midsize SUV combined with the luxurious features that set Lincoln apart. “Now, along with beautiful craftsmanship and intuitive technology, these exceptional safety ratings for Lincoln Nautilus position it for even greater success for our brand,” he said.
Nautilus is available with two front crash prevention systems, one standard and one optional. Nautilus earned superior and advanced ratings in vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations, both for its standard and optional front crash prevention systems.
