AppsForBharat has raised $10 million in its Series A funding round led by Elevation Capital. Separately, online teaching platform Teachmint is reportedly in talks to raise $70 million in a new funding round.
AppsForBharat raises $10m led by Elevation
AppsForBharat, a tech company focused on building apps to service the spiritual and devotional needs of Indian users, has raised $10 million in its Series A funding round led by Elevation Capital, per an announcement.
The financing also saw participation of existing investors Sequoia Capital India and BEENEXT as well as Matrix Partners India.
Angels including Scott Schleifer (Partner, Tiger Global), Saurabh Gupta (Managing Partner, DST Global), Ankush Sachdeva, Farid Ahsan and Bhanu Pratap Singh (Co-founders, ShareChat), Utsav Somani (Partner, iSeed), Anshumani Ruddra (Group PM, Google), Vidit Aatrey and Sanjeev Barnwal (Co-founders, Meesho), and Kunal Shah (Founder, CRED) too joined.
The company will use the funds raised for creating content IPs, building the product, and hiring talent across the product, data and engineering verticals. Previously, in April 2021, the company had secured $4 million in seed funding from Sequoia Capital India, BEENEXT, and WEH Ventures.
Teachmint eyes $70m funding
Online teaching platform Teachmint is reportedly in talks to raise $70 million in a new funding round from existing and new investors including Learn Capital and Lightspeed.
The round could go up to $90 million as inbound interest from investors in the company is very high, Entrackr reported. The startup is seeking a valuation of over $500 million in the new round.
This July, Teachmint had raised $20 million in a pre-Series B funding round led by Learn Capital, with participation from CM Ventures.
Launched in May 2020 by Gupta, Payoj Jain, Divyansh Bordia, and Anshuman Kumar,Teachmint is a mobile and video-first teaching platform built exclusively to help teachers digitise their classrooms.
