New Zealand blockchain startup SubQuery raises $9m

SubQuery, a New Zealand-based startup that aggregates data for decentralised app developers on the Polkadot protocol, has bagged $9 million in a round co-led by Arrington Capital, DCG, and Stratos Technologies, with participation from Hypersphere Ventures, Neo Global Capital, Wintermute, and Skynet Trading.

The company had raised a seed round earlier this year from the likes of DeFi Alliance and P2P Capital.

SubQuery helps app developers eliminate the need to process data themselves so that developers can focus on product development and user experience, the company said in a press release.

AirBolt closes $1.5m seed round

Australian smart lock creator AirBolt has raised an AUD$2 million ($1.5 million) seed round led by advisory firm Seventytwo Capital.

The funds will allow AirBolt to expand its product range and business overseas, the firm said in a press release.

Founded in 2015 from a Kickstarter campaign, the company has since sold more than 60,000 of these travel locks. The company launched a GPS tracker last year and claims to have made AUD$1.4 million in pre-orders.

“We’ve been profitable since the early days and never raised any outside capital previously thanks to our amazing KickStarter backers, but it was definitely time now to set our sights on becoming the best tracking and smart access company in the market,” AirBolt’s founder Kabir Sidhu said of the fundraising round.
