Tire manufacturer and retailer Bridgestone has formed a long-term partnership with the EVBox Group to deploy up to 3,500 EVBox AC and DC charging ports, powered by EVBox charging management software. The installations will take place across Bridgestone’s European retail and service network, which includes brands such as Speedy and First Stop.
Bridgestone’s retail network will also offer EV drivers the opportunity to buy and install residential charging stations.
The five-year project will begin in France and Italy before expanding to the UK, Germany, Poland, Spain and other European countries.
Bridgestone’s new chargers will be installed at strategic locations accessible to all EV drivers, including private and fleet vehicles. EVBox partner TSG, a provider of technical mobility services, will take the lead in designing, installing and maintaining the new charging network.
EVBox’s existing European charging network currently offers access to over 130,000 public charging ports, and allows drivers to manage charging sessions, payments and invoicing through one centralized platform.
“Bridgestone is committed to encouraging the adoption of EVs across Europe, and partnering with leading manufacturers to develop premium tires that meet the specific requirements of EVs,” said Christophe de Valroger, VP of Retail Operations at Bridgestone EMIA. “Building a truly EV-ready retail and service network is critical when it comes to helping drivers make the switch to electric mobility.”
