Charging solution provider Wallbox unveiled what it calls its fastest and most sophisticated public charging station yet, at the recent IAA MOBILITY 2021 trade show in Munich.
Hypernova can deliver up to 350 kW of power, matching the top speed of any passenger-vehicle charger on the market today. Currently, there are only a few cars on sale that can take advantage of this power level, but many of the upcoming generation of EVs will be able to handle 350 kW, and it may well be de rigueur by the time Wallbox begins production and deliveries of Hypernova in late 2022.
Hypernova uses software that allows it to optimize available power and adapt to the number of EVs connected, a feature that Wallbox says makes it ideal for public highway charging. An integrated cable management system stores the cables inside the dispenser unit, which is designed to ensure easy handling and maximize durability. The Hypernova charger offers several authentication and payment options, including RFID, screen QR Code and a credit card reader.
“We are thrilled to unveil our fastest public charger to date, which can fully charge an electric vehicle in under 15 minutes,” said Enric Asunción, CEO and co-founder of Wallbox.
“Our focus in building this suite of public charging solutions has been to help charge point operators increase their revenue while reducing maintenance costs and providing future-proof solutions,” said Eduard Castañeda, CPO and co-founder of Wallbox.
