BERLIN, Apr. 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Daimler automobile group will add four new plants to its production network “at the end of this decade”, which will be located in Poland, Hungary, Russia and China, as assured by the president of Daimler, Dieter Zetsche, at the annual meeting of shareholders of the company.

In addition, the firm said it is adjusting its production to a ‘mix’ of propulsion systems to allow each model to be produced on each assembly line in the next decade.

For its part, Daimler will launch “more than a dozen” new vehicles this year. As the company explains, among other models, the company already presented in the first three months of the year the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the new Class A, as well as the Mercedes-AMG GT four-door, so Zetsche has highlighted that the product offensive “keeps its pace accelerated”.

Daimler stresses that the highlight of 2018 Mercedes-Benz Vans will be the new Sprinter. In addition, “ultramodern” combustion engines are being developed to contribute to a further reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

“It is absolutely clear that car manufacturers are responsible for reconciling individual mobility with climate protection and clean air,” said the manager.

Regarding the electric vehicle, the group has ensured that the Mercedes-Benz brand will offer “at least” an electrified version in each segment in the year 2022. For its part, Smart, which is already “fully electric” in North America, will carry out the change in Europe in 2020.

“At the same time, we are electrifying our vans, trucks and buses and we have many plans, which also go beyond our products,” added Zetsche, who pointed out that a “correct” internal mentality is necessary to achieve a “real” change. “
