New Delhi:
MG Motor India on Thursday said it has inaugurated the first residential community charger in Gurugram with 7.4 kW AC chargers installed at The WorldSpa condominiums.

The carmaker has collaborated with Electreefi and the condominium’s Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) “to offer charger access to all EV owners and drivers, including WorldSpa residents and visitors.”

MG had earlier partnered with Fortum and Tata Power to introduce superfast charging stations.

In July, the company set up a 50 kW superfast public EV charging station in Pune in collaboration with Fortum Charge and Drive India.

Its ZS EV model comes with a free-of-cost AC fast-charger (installed at the customer’s home/office), a plug-and-charge cable onboard, and charge-on-the-go with RSA (Roadside Assistance).

“Along with its partners and other RWAs, MG will continue to bolster the community charger infrastructure in the future. In doing so, the carmaker aims to allow a seamless and hassle-free vehicle charging experience across several residential spaces to promote EV adoption,” a company statement said.

The London-based company has around 1,000 public chargers in service, with contracts signed for 10,000 more. Chief Executive Chris Pateman-Jones told Reuters that Connected Kerb should have deals for an additional 30,000 chargers by the end of the first quarter of 2022.

“We have created an enabling environment that will in the coming times ensure more EVs will run on the city roads,” he said, adding that by increasing accessibility to charging infrastructure, all doubts or uncertainty in the minds of people about buying an EV will be done away with.
