The German car group BMW sold a total of 2.46 million vehicles worldwide during the past year, representing an increase of 4.1% compared to 2016, according to data published by the company.
The Munich-based company said that this commercial record represents its best worldwide sales figure in history, as well as the seventh consecutive year in which it achieves an annual record of registrations.
The BMW consortium indicated that this record of deliveries during the past year is also explained because its BMW and Mini brands achieved record figures in 2017, as well as the motorcycle division BMW Motorrad.
In December, the multinational chaired by Harald Krüger reached a world volume of deliveries of 234,027 units, which translates into an increase of 8.8% when compared with the same month of the previous year.
By brand, BMW registered 2.08 million cars worldwide in 2017, 4.2% more, and 195,916 units in December, up 9.5%, while Mini sold 80,795 units in all of 2017, a 19.1% more, and 9.509 units last month, 35.5% more.
For its part, the luxury brand Rolls-Royce achieved worldwide sales last year of 3,362 units, 16.2% less, and 435 units in December, 17.1% less. Sales of electrified models of the group rose 65.6% the previous year, with 103,080 units, and 79.5% in December, with 13,271 units.
The global deliveries of the motorcycle firm BMW Motorrad reached a volume of 164,153 units, representing a progression of 13.2%. In December, its registrations grew by 36.9%, to 11,831 units.
By region, the BMW Group sold 1.1 million units in Europe in 2017, 0.9% more and 102,968 units in the last month of the year, up 4.4%, while deliveries in Asia increased by 13%. , 6% in the whole of 2017, with 847,493 units, and 19.3% in the monthly calculation, with 77,850 units.
Finally, the company sold 450,020 vehicles in America during the past year, which translates into a decrease of 2%, while in the last month of last year increased by 4.1% to 47,987 units.
