Times are tough for automotive suppliers. After the health crisis of 2020, the sector is facing an unprecedented shortage of semiconductors, which is expected to cut global production by 10 million vehicles. The assembly lines of manufacturers sometimes have to stop overnight, which has repercussions on the equipment manufacturers, who supply them just in time. At the same time, commodity and energy prices have skyrocketed, eating into margins. Laurent Favre, CEO of Plastic Omnium, one of the three sector champions with Valeo and Faurecia , details in an interview with “Echos” the challenges of the moment.
