Flipkart’s Shopsy launches grocery offering in 700 cities

Shopsy, the social commerce unit of Flipkart, announced that it has started offering grocery as a category on its platform with the aim of becoming the largest grocery retailer in India.

Grocery on Shopsy will cater to consumers across 700 cities, with over 6,000 products across 230 categories. The product offerings will include staples, FMCG, and other dry groceries, as per the announcement.

“Grocery is a key consumer need and we are committed to making e-grocery affordable for consumers and sellers alike,” said Prakash Sikaria, Senior Vice President-Growth at Flipkart.

Shopsy was launched early this year to help individuals start online businesses without any investment, and also deepen e-commerce penetration, particularly in non-metros.

With Shopsy, Flipkart aims to enable over 25 million online entrepreneurs by 2023 on the back of digital commerce, where they can set up their business as long as they have access to a network of people that trust them.

Good Glamm acquires celebrity media firm MissMalini

India-based content-to-commerce firm Good Glamm Group has acquired local celebrity media and influencer talent management network MissMalini Entertainment for an undisclosed amount.

The cash and stock deal allows Good Glamm to access a network of influencers and celebrities and is part of its plan to create South Asia’s biggest personal and beauty care conglomerate, according to CEO Darpan Sanghvi.

In October, Good Glamm acquired ScoopWhoop, a Delhi-based digital media and lifestyle content platform, for an undisclosed amount. It had earlier acquired BabyChakra; The Moms Co., and St. Botanica, this year. Last year, it also acquired POPxo.
